Beneath a downtown parking lot, San Antonio rediscovered a piece of itself: the foundation of St. James AME Church, founded in 1867 by freedmen and freedwomen forging community in the aftermath of slavery. This special edition follows that cornerstone's journey from forgotten history to "Presence of the Past"—a public art installation where quilt patterns once used to guide the Underground Railroad now shelter a new generation gathering along San Pedro Creek.
A percentage of the proceeds will be donated to support ongoing maintenance of the art installation.
