Throughout her lifetime, Maya Angelou was an avid traveler. One of her most notable and impactful experiences was living in Ghana at the age of 33. There she was a journalist, broadcaster, and editor for a Pan African magazine and was instrumental in helping Malcolm X explore Ghana and meet with then President Kwame Nkrumah. In 1998, Ghana became the first country to honor Maya Angelou with a forever stamp commemorating her legacy and impact in the country.
