Black people have always led the way in fashion and trends, especially at events. Be it a church gathering, cookout, birthday party, or concert, we show up and show out. In Black culture, every week feels like fashion week. This year's 2024 ESSENCE Festival is no exception.

Since the 90s, the ESSENCE Festival has blossomed into a grand celebration of Black culture. It showcases music, beauty, wellness, entertainment, empowerment, and community. It's like one big family reunion. But instead of losing your Black card for not knowing how to play spades (me), or hearing Uncle Ron Ron bad-mouth someone over dominoes, you witness the biggest names in Black entertainment. You experience cultural activations - from Beautycon to AfroPunk to the Wellness House. There's something for everyone. And when it comes to fashion and style, our people never disappoint.

Here are 10 fashion tips for this year's Essence Festival to guarantee you are styling and profiling:

1. Micro Shorts: You heard it right: “Come on, baby, kick those dazzeys!” This summer, micro shorts or daisy dukes, reminiscent of men's underwear but high-waisted and form-fitting, are in vogue.
